DAY OF CALM (1-3 Days)
Day 1 Day of Calm is all about that, being Calm. Working in class groups, we concentrate Day 1 on breathing techniques, this will help focus and calm thoughts, giving children a coping strategy to use at anytime. We learn about how to isolate our senses and use concentration to develop mindfulness. During the session we also use movements based on the ancient Tai Chi practice to improve balance, co-ordination, focus and control.
Day 2 offers a similar session but with a spotlight on Mindful Breathing and also being more physical by taking part in some yoga. We look more deeply into how using breathing, mindfulness, movement and concentration can help to calm and refocus the mind and body.
Day 3 will be looking at the more creative element of Mindfulness. Using music, art and meditation, the groups will gain a good understanding of how we can use everyday things to help calm and concentrate our body and mind. A mix of either Tai Chi style movements and sequences or yoga will add to the physicality of the session.
All session plans and resources will be sent out to schools after the event for everyday use with your pupils.
